Introducing - Vermillion Girl, Gluten Free Baking

Hi I’m Vada, welcome to my journey of learning how to cook and bake all Gluten Free.
Last Fall I was diagnosed with a disease called Alopecia Areata. Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder where your immune system attacks itself, in this case my hair follicles. My hair falls out in circular shaped bald spots on my head. The disease is different for everyone, some can loose all their hair even their eyelashes and eyebrows, for some it grows back and doesn’t fall out again, and for others it will continue to fall out and come back throughout their lives. As of now, there is no cure for it.
As a way to help my Alopecia and other tummy issues I have been having I decided to try a Gluten Free Diet. As of today, I’ve been Gluten Free for almost 6 months.
With the help of this diet as well as a topical steroid cream my hair has started to grow back. The Gluten Free diet has also helped me be less tired, taken away my head and body aches, I have been able to focus easier on my school work and have had more energy for playing sports. My tummy has also stopped hurting.
I love to bake and have a major sweet tooth, having to go Gluten Free was really hard for me at first. However, I am finding new recipes and foods/products I love that help replace the things I loved before. I still get down about my disorder from time to time, but I hope this page will help me inspire others and even myself to keep finding the good and control what I can.
Thank you for coming along with me on this journey of turning my lemons into lemonade. @vermillion.girl
